Venkat Rao

Venkat is an experienced commercial litigator and arbitration practitioner with a particular focus on disputes arising from complex commercial contracts. He regularly appears before the High Courts, the National Company Law Tribunals (NCLTs), and the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT).

His practice encompasses representing clients in litigation and arbitration proceedings across a broad spectrum of commercial disputes, including those arising from development agreements, dealership arrangements, and EPC/construction contracts relating to major infrastructure projects such as highways, metros, and large-scale commercial developments.

In addition to his counsel practice, Venkat serves as an arbitrator and has been appointed as sole arbitrator by the Bombay High Court and the Mumbai Centre for International Arbitration (MCIA). He routinely appears in arbitration-related court proceedings, including matters concerning the constitution of arbitral tribunals, applications for interim relief, and the challenge and enforcement of arbitral awards.

Venkat also advises clients on contract drafting and administration, claims management, dispute avoidance and resolution strategies, and the effective implementation of pre-arbitration dispute resolution mechanisms.
